Sage College Selects TVC as Communications Carrier for Its Albany and Troy Campuses
TVCs Campus Tech Subsidiary to Be Single-Source for Networking, Local and Long Distance Services for Students and Administration
Albany, NY September 19, 2002 - Tech Valley Communications (TVC), the only locally owned, facilities-based carrier in the Capital Region, today announced that Sage Colleges has selected the Company to provide networking, local and long-distance services for both students and administration at its Albany and Troy campuses. Under the contract signed this month, TVCs Campus Tech subsidiary will act as a single-source for all communications requirements, including equipment maintenance assistance and communication services for the College administration and its 500-600 students in residence.
Like Sage, most educational institutions and school districts, need to continually upgrade their communications infrastructure to keep pace with new technologies and better prepare their students for the future. At the same time, they need cost- effective solutions and unique and highly flexible services geared to their unique needs, said Kevin OConnor, TVCs CEO. With Campus Tech, they have a valuable and knowledgeable partner who understands their requirements and can meet them now and over the long term.
Karen DAgostino, Sages assistant director for telecommunications said, Of the five bids we received, TVCs was the most flexible and cost effective, allowing us to make needed upgrades and, at the same time, provide more lower cost alternatives for our students. Its also advantageous to have a provider that is not only knowledgeable about the communications needs of educational institutions, but also locally available to provide immediate service and technical support.
In addition to Sage, TVCs Campus Tech customers include Columbia Universitys Medical School, Simons Rock College, NY Institute of Technology, Herkimer County Community College, and several large school districts as well as small, independent educational institutions.
